New Homeowner's Fight Against Moisture
Challenge
These soon-to-be new homeowners, after much searching and stress, finally came across a home that they were certain on. This is obviously an extremely exciting decision and change in their lives, but unfortunately, there was still a little more work to be done. An inspection had found some moisture and potential mold underneath the home, while this wasn't enough to make them walk away, they knew they couldn't just leave it be. This would be the place of living for them and their children for many years to come, and they didn't want this problem to grow and eventually worsen their experience here. Before even fully moving in, they made the smart decision to have someone come out and start searching for solutions. This led them to our company and DeRosia, one of our customer care representatives, who walked them through the process and quickly scheduled them an appointment.
Solution
On the day of their set appointment, one of our long-standing and highly knowledgeable design specialists, Scottie, made his way to the home. After a thorough crawl of the underside of the home, he confirmed moisture issues and no forms of moisture-proofing in the crawl space at all. He's seen crawl spaces like this many times, and they all eventually bring about the same problems, such as buckling floors, rotting subfloors, and mold. While still at the home, he crafted up a plan to handle this issue and sat down with the upcoming homeowners to make sure they understood everything completely. They loved the idea of our Encapsulation System, and decided that having it installed would be the best way to future proof the home. One of our talented crews was sent out to put each of the crawl space components in place, including our CleanSpace Liner. This part of the encapsulation stands out the most, its hard to miss, as it covers the entire crawl space! Unlike other standard vapor barriers, we make sure our CleanSpace is securely fastened to the floors, walls, and supports of the crawl space. This system also includes a crawl space dehumidifier and sump pump system, both playing a large part in combatting moisture and humidity. Keeping the floor dry and the humidity levels at a safe percentage means no change for mold to thrive. The system was put in place around the same time that they got themselves fully moved in, eliminating one large worry and allowing them to simply enjoy their new home. We're honored that we were able to help protect one of their most important investments!
