Why Level Your Sunken Concrete?

What Causes Concrete to Sink?

When all or part of a concrete slab sinks, it's usually due to one of two conditions. Mississippi has brown clay loam at the subsurface and subsoil layers. The clay expands as it absorbs ground moisture. During dry periods, the soil shrinks, causing voids. Concrete is a heavy material, so it sinks without a stable soil base. Erosion is another possible reason for sinking concrete. Heavy rainfall and other sources of water flow can wash away some of the soil under the slab, causing it to sink into the resulting hole or void. No matter what's caused the concrete slab to sink, you need a concrete repair method that levels the concrete but also addresses the underlying conditions to prevent recurrence.

How Polyfoam Concrete Leveling Works

Polyfoam injection, also called polyjacking or polyurethane foam injection, is a popular method of lifting sunken concrete slabs. The goal of polyfoam concrete leveling is to raise and level the concrete slab while filling voids in the soil to help prevent future sinking. Polyfoam injection is similar to mudjacking, but it offers faster installation and curing time and more attractive results. These are some of the reasons why polyfoam concrete leveling is the leading alternative to concrete replacement, mudjacking, and other more invasive concrete slab repair methods.

PolyLevel step 1: drilling injection holes

1

Small 5/8” holes are strategically drilled in the slab.

PolyLevel step 2: installing injection ports

2

Injection ports are installed.

PolyLevel step 3: injecting polyurethane foam

3

Polyurethane foam is injected beneath the concrete to fill voids and raise the slab.

PolyLevel step 4: sealing holes and control joints

4

Holes and control joints are sealed.

Mudjacking vs PolyLevel®

PolyLevel® is a leading polyfoam concrete leveling solution used for fast, affordable, and effective concrete slab repair. PolyLevel® is a long-lasting solution since it addresses underlying soil conditions that cause sinking concrete slabs, one of the many advantages over mudjacking.

Concrete Replacement

Replacing a concrete slab is both expensive and disruptive. Concrete slabs can take days - or even weeks - to cure. Pouring new concrete over bad soil often delays future problems and leaves unsightly patchwork. PolyLevel material is lightweight, so it won't add weight to weak soil. Best of all, PolyLevel allows for use of concrete within hours, not weeks.
