Drainage matting prevents abrasion holes in the CleanSpace liner, provides a drainage space, and the airspace is a thermal break between the cold earth and the CleanSpace. This break raises the temperature of the liner more towards the indoor temperature, not the earth temperature, meaning it keeps the crawlspace very close to the temperature inside your home.
