Crawl Space Encapsulation in Madison, MS
Challenge
Cynthia inherited this lovely home from her grandfather, and in order to protect its legacy, she knew some work was going to need to be done. She didn't want a quick and temporary fix, she was searching for something long-lasting that would benefit and serve this home for many years to come. Fortunately, she found our company, and we offer exactly what she was looking for. Cynthia first spoke to our customer care rep, Christina, who listened to her predicament and found out exactly where we'd be able to help. One major red flag was the mold and mildew smells she described coming from under the home. Upon hearing this, Christina stressed the importance of having someone come out and take a look, and promptly worked with Cynthia to find a date for one of our skilled design specialist to go and examine the crawl space. When Andrew arrived, he found that there was once an attempt to protect the underside of the home in the form of a basic vapor barrier. It was obvious that this did not work, the barrier wasn't even covering all of the dirt floor, and signs of moisture and mold were still discovered throughout. To prevent more mold and further moisture damage, it was going to need a serious upgrade.
Solution
Andrew finished throughly inspecting the entire crawl space and wrote up an estimate and a plan for the ultimate solutions - encapsulation system. This system involves sealing off the crawl space and protecting/conditioning the space with multiple expertly engineered moisture-proofing products. This includes a durable, thicker liner, a crawl space dehumidifier, a sump pump system, and more! Andrew sat down to discuss all of the details with Cynthia, and they decided that moving forward with this plan was best for the future of the home. Another date was set up for one of our talented crews to be sent out to put the plan into place, led by our foreman, Brett. They secured drainage matting and our CleanSpace Liner throughout the entire crawl space, protecting against and redirecting ground/wall water seepage. They installed our crawl space dehumidifier and programmed it to continuously keep the underside of the home at the perfect humidity level, not too much where mold can thrive, but not too little that the floors are affected. The sump pump is strategically placed in the lowest point of the crawl space, so that water can easily be drained towards it. Anything that is collected from the surrounding area, or automatically dispensed from the dehumidifier, is sent outside and away from the space. In a few days, everything had been installed and our crew left a new and unrecognizable crawl space. Great work to everyone on our team who played a part in making this possible!
