Crawl Space Remodeling in Brookhaven, MS
Challenge
These homeowners had put in a large sum of effort and work into entirely remodeling this home, transforming it into something they'd be happy potentially living in forever. They made large changes to both the interior and exterior, but one area they had not touched was one you don't typically see - the underside. Below the home in the crawl space, things had not been updated in a while. There was an old vapor barrier, but moisture and humidity still seemed to be a problem. Acting as the foundation of their home, in order to protect all the hard work they had invested into the rest of it, they knew they needed to make sure the crawl space was protected as well. They reached out to us to get opinions and ideas, and spoke to one of our Customer Care Representatives, DeRosia, who helped them find a date and time to meet with one of our System Design Specialists.
Solution
The Design Specialist that was sent out was one of our crawl space experts, Andrew. He got underneath the home and crawled corner to corner, inspecting it and creating a plan for its remodel. He found the old vapor barrier, and discovered it clearly had not stood the test of time, from what he could tell, nothing was preventing moisture damage. After a few hours of thorough inspecting and planning, he came back up to meet with the homeowners and go over the details of the perfect solution, our encapsulation system. The old vapor barrier would be replaced with a large upgrade, our CleanSpace Liner. Instead of just being thrown on top of the soil, this extra durable liner would be fastened to the floor, walls, and supports of the crawl space, giving no area for moisture to seep through. Alongside it, one of our crawl space dehumidifiers would be installed into the space to keep humidity down to safe percentage. This step is important for creating an environment where dangerous molds cannot thrive. Any other moisture would be collected and sent away from the crawl space through our battery backed-up TripleSafe Sump Pump System. The homeowners loved the idea and thought it matched the standards of all the remodeling work they had done so far. We scheduled a new date with them and sent one of our talented crews out to install the work. Our foreman, David, and his crew did an excellent job doing exactly that. They can now rest easy knowing that their greatest investment is on a dry, stable foundation, ready to support their daily lives for many years to come!
