Challenge

Many homeowners end up with crawl space moisture related damage simply because it can be easy to ignore problems forming under your home that you don't see during your day-to-day life. Moisture under your floors may not seem immediately-threatening, but leave it alone for too long, and it can lead to serious issues such as buckling floors, rotting joists, or mold. For this homeowner, who suffers from problems with their breathing, allowing mold to grow is not an option. When she noticed the very first sign of it, she made the diligent decision to reach out to us and start searching for a professional solution. One of our customer care reps, DeRosia, took her call, listened to her stresses, and worked with her to find a good date and time for an appointment. On the set date, our design specialist, Andrew, arrived at the home to get a thorough look at the crawl space and begin working on a detailed estimate. He inspected each part of the crawl space, took photos, noted signs of problems, and confirmed a sighting of mold. To prevent further growth and damage, Andrew created a plan to equip this crawl space with the perfect solution - the encapsulation system.

Solution

The encapsulation system combines multiple products that are each the best there is at fighting against moisture in each of its forms. Outside air and humidity that seeps into the crawl space plays a large part in many of the moisture issues that we see. Sealing off the underside of the home and lining the inside with our durable CleanSpace Liner will block out these outside sources and any ground moisture seepage. In the provided photos, you can see that this liner isn't just lazily thrown onto the dirt, it is securely fastened to the floor, walls, and supports of the crawl space. In order to further condition the air under the home, we install an energy efficient crawl space dehumidifier under the home that will constantly manage the humidity levels and keep them at a safe percentage. Doing this is extremely important to creating an environment where mold cannot thrive. Finally, any water under the liner or water collected by the dehumidifier, will be drained to a battery-backed up sump pump system that will send it outside the crawl space. Additionally, in order to further help the homeowner's health, we did a Mold-X treatment, and put the amazing Aspen Air Purifier inside her home. All of this work was installed by one of our talented crews, led by their foreman, Garrett. Not only is this home safer than ever, we are proud in knowing that our company could help keep a homeowner safe and more comfortable in their home as well.
