This homeowner was feeling soft spots in his floors in various parts of his home. In many cases of this problem, including this one, we discover that it is due to a moisture problem underneath. When our system design specialist, Tristan, went out to take a look at the crawl space, he found that there was a half-attempt to combat this moisture. Literally just half, it seems a vapor barrier was laid under a part of the crawl space where the flooring issues were the worst. Unfortunately, even if this vapor barrier has been extended across the entire underside of the home, we know it would not be enough to truly protect these floors. We introduced the homeowner to our encapsulation system, a form of protection that covers all bases when it comes to moisture damage. The crawl space received a serious upgrade, now with a much thicker liner covering the entire space, a crawl space dehumidifier, and sump pump system. These products act as a barrier against water intrusion, moisture seepage, and high humidity. These floors are safer than ever!
These two images were taken in the same crawl space in Covington, LA, featuring the muddy and water-filled mess it was beforehand, and the fully encapsulated, moisture-proofed transformation that was completed by one of our talented production crews!
This crawl space actually had a concrete floor and was sealed in by brick, making it way less messy than most of the dirt floor crawl spaces we come across! Despite this, the crawl space still had a huge humidity problem, affecting the stability of the floors. By making sure the crawl space as fully sealed, covering the entire slab and walls of the crawl space with our CleanSpace Liner, and installing our crawl space dehumidifier, we were able to eliminate this crawl space. Somehow, the crawl space looks even neater now!
This crawlspace has tons of water in it due to a drainage problem. This left the home susceptible to condensation in the crawlspace which causes the floors to rot, a musty smell, and many more issues. We were able to pump all the water out and lay our CleanSpace Crawlspace Encapsulation system to prevent from these problems from occurring in the future.
In most cases, the crawl spaces we come across are spaces of exposed dirt, usually wet and messy. As you can see in these photos, this crawl space was actually on top of a concrete slab. But even with this large difference, as you can also see, there are many wet areas of concrete. Same as dirt crawl spaces, the underside of this home needed moisture protection. Our same solution was put in place, our encapsulation system. A durable vapor barrier, a dehumidifier, and a sump pump system were all strategically installed to take care of moisture from any form it comes in. This crawl space was already pretty neat, but we made it even better!
